On July 28, Nashville-born, Knoxville-based Americana artist Hollye B will release her debut solo single, a warm, swagger-filled country love song that arrives after years spent supporting some of the most respected names in American music. Having toured with Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) & The Dirty Knobs and shared stages with artists including Ringo Starr, Lucinda Williams, Benmont Tench, Jamey Johnson, Ryan Bingham, Don Was, Lukas Nelson, Blackberry Smoke, and Shannon McNally, Hollye B has spent years helping tell other artists' stories. Now she's finally telling her own story.
Written by Hollye B and Christopher Holt and featuring legendary guitarist Mike Campbell, "Ain't Got Nothin'" was born in a laundry room backstage at a Willie Nelson show. What started as a melody stuck in Hollye's head quickly evolved into a timeless country song filled with vivid imagery and hard-earned perspective: a Ford truck rolling down Highway 99, John Prine on the stereo, calloused hands, leather, sunshine, and the realization that love sometimes arrives when you've almost stopped expecting it.
Produced by Hollye B and J.R. Bohannon, recorded at Pink Moon Recording Studios in Knoxville, and anchored by Mike Campbell's unmistakable guitar work, "Ain't Got Nothin'" serves as both an introduction and a statement. It's the sound of an artist who has lived long enough to accept that adversity is an essential part of the human experience and that the best stories come from maintaining hope in order to find what’s on the other side.
